Skin Cancer Awareness
May is Skin Cancer Awareness
As we await the warmer weather, please read the following information to stay safe in the sun:
- Seek the shade, especially between 10am and 4 pm
- Don’t get sunburnt
- Avoid UV tanning beds
- Cover up with clothing, including a broad brimmed hat and UV blocking sunglasses
- Use a UVA/UVB sunscreen with a SPF of 15 or higher every day. For extended outdoor activity, use a water resistent, UVA/UVB sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher
- Keep newborn babies out of the sun. Use SPF 50 on babies over the age of six months (or follow product instructions)
- Apply enough sunscreen to your entire body at least 30 minutes before you go out into the sun. Reapply the sunscreen every 2 hours or after excessive sweating or swimming. Follow the product directions.
- Examine your skin regularly. If you notice any skin changes, seek the advice of your GP
